The new Archbishop of the Czech Lands and Slovakia enthroned

Yesterday, in the Prague cathedral, dedicated to the holy equal-to-apostles brothers Cyril and methodius, the enthronement took place of His Beatitude Christopher, Archbishop of Prague and metropolitan of the Czech Lands and Slovakia. Participating at the ceremonies in honor of this event were official delegations of all the local Orthodox Churches. After the end of the Divine Liturgy, the greeting addresses by Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople and patriarch Alexis II of Russia were read. The Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia (until the year 1992 Czechoslovakian Orthodox Church) was granted autocephaly by its mother Church—the Russian Orthodox Church—in 1951. today this Church comprises 4 dioceses with 166 parishes and 184 churches on the territory of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic.
